Hello! My Name is Aneeshya Georga

I am from Kerala, India, and I’m 25 years old. I am a nurse by profession and completed a four-year nursing course. For the past one and a half years, I have worked in the intensive care unit.

When I was studying nursing, it was always my dream to work abroad and provide care in another country. My cousin lives in Germany, and he shared with me how great professional life can be here. That’s why I chose Germany as my destination.

Adapting to a New Culture

Upon arriving, I noticed some cultural differences between Germany and India, especially when it comes to food. As a foreigner, I found the language quite challenging to learn. However, I believe that practice is key. I make an effort by listening to the radio, watching TV, and reading books. It’s important to engage and talk to others to improve.

My Experience in a Nursing Home

This is my first experience working in a nursing home, and I must say that the staff and my colleagues here are incredibly helpful and friendly. They take the time to speak slowly and explain tasks clearly, which makes it easier for me to adapt.

Currently, I work as a nursing assistant. I have a year to complete my recognition process, after which I will officially become a nurse. I have high hopes for my future in this profession. Once I receive my recognition, I aim to pursue further training to become a practical instructor.

My brother is also studying nursing, and I hope he will come to Berlin once he completes his training.

The role of Indian nursing professionals in Germany

Indian professionals in the nursing sector are playing an increasingly important role in Germany and are helping to cover the growing need for nursing care in an aging society. For this reason, the Federal Employment Agency entered into a cooperation agreement with the Indian state of Kerala two years ago. DOMICIL is also actively recruiting nursing professionals in my home country. With a solid education and a committed attitude, they can make a significant impact on healthcare while enjoying a fulfilling and rewarding career.
