Hello! We are Nithu, Renju, and Mary, three friends from India who have embarked on an incredible journey together in Germany. We have all been working at Domicil Senior Care Home for the past year, and we would like to share our experiences with yo

How We Found Domicil

Nithu: My journey to Germany began when I searched online for opportunities. I wanted to come to Germany, so I did thorough research. Many of my friends were already working at Domicil, and they told me how great it is and how well everything runs here. This encouraged me to contact my employment agency, which helped me make the move.

Renju: I’ve been working at Domicil for the same duration, and I also heard about the job opportunities from friends. They mentioned that there are plenty of possibilities for nurses in Germany, and I was eager to be part of that.

Mary: Like my friends, I've been in Germany for a year now, and I can truly say it has been an enriching experience.

Overcoming Challenges

Nithu: It took a year and a half to navigate the process due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but I eventually arrived. I completed my language training, which included reaching the B2 level in German, a requirement for professionals in my field. The first day in Germany was daunting; I had so much fear, but my employment agency was there at the airport to pick me up. The home manager was very friendly and helpful, preparing everything for my arrival.

Renju: Yes, the first day was tough for me too. I struggled to communicate, but everyone at Domicil, from management to my colleagues, was incredibly kind and supportive. They made a significant effort to help me settle in.

Mary: I remember feeling overwhelmed at first, being unable to respond properly. However, my colleagues and the residents were patient with me. I learned to communicate using gestures and expressions.

Building Connections

Nithu: Over time, I’ve improved my language skills significantly. I can now communicate well with everyone and participate actively in daily activities. The friendly environment at Domicil has allowed me to make many international friendships, which has been a rewarding aspect of my journey.

Renju: I agree! I’ve met so many wonderful people here, both from other countries and locals. The support from my coworkers and the residents has been fantastic. It has truly made my experience memorable.

Mary: After finishing my language training, I plan to further my education and gain recognition for my qualifications. Right now, we are all waiting for our examination dates, and I hope to succeed in that.

Goals for the Future

Nithu: As we settle into our lives here, I also want to adapt more to the culture and explore my potential further.

Renju: After my exam, I have a big goal: to bring my family here to Germany. That’s something I’m really looking forward to.

Mary: I want to echo that sentiment. My goal is to get my family here after my examination as well. I feel that everything I hoped for in coming to Germany is coming true, but being with my family would make it complete.

Nithu: Despite some challenges, like adapting to the weather, I am very content here. I can't express my gratitude enough for the opportunities I’ve been given at Domicil, and I look forward to my future here.

The role of Indian nursing professionals in Germany

Indian professionals in the nursing sector are playing an increasingly important role in Germany and are helping to cover the growing need for nursing care in an aging society. For this reason, the Federal Employment Agency entered into a cooperation agreement with the Indian state of Kerala two years ago. DOMICIL is also actively recruiting nursing professionals in my home country. With a solid education and a committed attitude, they can make a significant impact on healthcare while enjoying a fulfilling and rewarding career.
