Hello, my name is Reshma, and I am 34 years old. I come from the beautiful state of Kerala in India. I am married and a proud mother of two children. My husband works as a taxi driver, and my children are currently studying.
My Nursing Journey
I have twelve years of experience in nursing, during which I’ve developed a deep passion for caring for others. Throughout my career, I have often heard from friends and colleagues about the beauty of Germany and its fascinating geography and culture. This inspired me to seize the opportunity to move here.
Embracing New Experiences
One of the most striking differences I noticed upon arriving in Germany is the food. In India, we primarily eat rice, whereas here in Germany, meals often include bread, jam, salads, and a variety of other foods. I also observed that German people tend to be more disciplined, especially when it comes to traffic rules—everyone waits patiently for the green signal at intersection
The biggest challenge I face is learning the German language. However, I believe that with persistence, I can overcome this hurdle. I have recognized that there are more opportunities in Germany compared to India. I am fortunate to have supportive German colleagues and residents who have been incredibly helpful in my language learning journey. Their politeness and encouragement make me feel welcomed and happy to be here.
The role of Indian nursing professionals in Germany
Indian professionals in the nursing sector are playing an increasingly important role in Germany and are helping to cover the growing need for nursing care in an aging society. For this reason, the Federal Employment Agency entered into a cooperation agreement with the Indian state of Kerala two years ago. DOMICIL is also actively recruiting nursing professionals in my home country. With a solid education and a committed attitude, they can make a significant impact on healthcare while enjoying a fulfilling and rewarding career.
