Family background is decisive for career choice
My name is Jurij Cobena Kanngießer, and I work as a residential area manager at DOMICIL. It was clear to me early on that I wanted to give something back in my job. My family background played a decisive role in this. My parents always taught me how important it is to treat older people with respect and care. These values shaped me and paved my way into nursing care for the elderly.
My mother is a ward manager at Charité Hospital. My aunt, who is now retired, also worked in elderly care and was also a ward manager. When I had to decide on a career path, I took one look at it and knew on the first day that it was for me! So I didn't hesitate for long. I wanted to find a job where I could live out my passion for working with older people. Care for the elderly seemed to be the perfect fit for me. It's a fulfilling job to look after the well-being and needs of the older generation and give them a pleasant quality of life.
As a society, we need to give something back to the older generation
In our fast-paced society, the older generation is often pushed into the background. Yet these people have so much experience and wisdom to share. It is important that we give them the recognition and support they deserve. As a residential area manager at DOMICIL, I see it as my job to ensure the quality of care and enable older people to live with dignity.
Working with older people requires a lot of empathy and patience. Each individual has their own needs and preferences. As a residential area manager, it is my responsibility to ensure that these individual needs are met. Our care and leisure activities are geared toward the residents. We promote their independence as much as possible. We provide as much support as is necessary.
Our aim is for our residents to lead as independent and individual life as possible in safety and security. A life in an environment that takes individual physical and mental abilities into account and strengthens them where possible. We offer our residents a wide range of activities and services to improve their quality of life. From joint excursions to cultural events, we ensure that our residents feel comfortable and secure.

I am happy with my decision to work as a residential area manager at DOMICIL. Here, I have the opportunity to develop personally and expand my skills.
